Friday Feast: Pretzel Bites
June 22, 2012
Oh… mall eats. Aren’t they great? Cinnabon, Sbarro, and hot pretzels.
I didn’t even think making homemade pretzels or pretzel bites were even possible. Until, of course, Pinterest… the place for everything.
I found this recipe for pretzel bites, and although my creation doesn’t look as pretty as the Pinterest pictures (do they ever look just like the perfect pictures on Pinterest?), they were quite delicious. It’s amazing that I was able to make them so perfectly on the first try.
Here’s what you need to make them.
Ingredients
Frozen or bakery-fresh dough
butter
salt, parmesan, garlic and any other seasonings you’d like to use
- Once cold (not frozen), roll the dough out into a long rope and cut into small bite-sized pieces.
- Drop each piece (10 or so at a time) into a boiling pot of water for 45 seconds or so to “shock” the bites. This is when they become puffy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them dry on a paper-towel-lined plate.
- Place the bites on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until they are a golden brown.
- Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle parmesan, salt, and garlic powder. Enjoy!
