Addendum to the Pet Peeve List

September 18, 2008

I promise to post more soon, but I have to elaborate on my pet peeve list: people who ask too many questions in art class. (I think this new one can be tacked onto the category with the people who talk too much during Pilates.)

I started Printmaking II last night, and I am having class with the Printmaking I students. The introvert instructor is splitting his time between the beginners and me, which is great for me. And, maybe I’m already a snob for being in the studio for nine Wednesdays, but asking questions in the middle of class is just distracting. Everyone is drawing, I’d widdling on my plank of wood, the press is rolling, soft music is playing, and out comes a loud question.

I forsee that I’m going to have to show some serious restraint in future classes.

Don’t you just hate that? And how difficult is it for the teacher to say, “Let’s keep the questions to a soft murmur?” Even adults can be needy. And the larger the class, the more the need.

“Hold back some serious restraint” = not restrain = let it fly. If you decide to let it fly, let me know which Wednesday that will be, and I will attend, for I love to be entertained. And then we’ll eat some Neely BBQ.

I’m into pet peeves and pet hates too – big time! If you’re interested, you might check out my cartoon blog at http://www.cartoonsbysheila.wordpress.com
