These are a few of my favorite things

January 8, 2009

I’m very excited about a new project I’m working on for a wall in our home. I spent Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering the wedding photos of my parents and grandparents as well as JD’s parents and grandparents. We are so lucky to have zero divorces in our families, so I am devoting a wall specifically for the old wedding pictures.

While collecting them, I forgot how much I loved old photographs. When I was growing up, my mom and dad did a great job of keeping old photos and displaying them around our house.  Now that JD and I have our own home, I’m working hard to keep that tradition going. So, before Christmas, I spent a night with my mom just scanning all kinds of old photos from our family, and I am cherishing having these in my Google albums. Here are a few of my favorites (I’ll save showing you the wedding photos until I have the wall complete, which should be in the next month or so):

My mom was such a cutie! This was her in first grade.

Here’s my dad, on the left, with his brothers Dickie and Sonny. We guessed this was about 1955.

Here’s a cutie of my dad getting his first communion. He’s the one staring at the camera. Something pretty special about this picture is that he is standing in line behind Julian Dufreche, who was the mayor of Ponchatoula before my dad, now the current mayor.

Here’s a great one of my dad’s mother and her first communion. Check out her little purse!

And, here is my mom’s mom holding me! This is in 1982.

And, finally, the most anticipated shot of this post!

How could I have ever missed this blog? I’m rereading your old blogs and ran across this one…how special. But where is that great shot of you in high heels at 4 years old mugging for the camera in your dance leotard?
