Kindred Spirit

August 19, 2009

I wish I read more books. I really do. But lately I only find time to read on the plane or in waiting rooms. It’s nice to have a novel around, rather than always referring to my Blackberry for entertainment. In the spring, I read “Anne of Green Gables” by L.M. Montgomery, and it was light and comforting during a busy time.

While relaxing last night (which has been rare lately), I picked up “Anne of Avonlea” (the second book in the series) and found this in the front cover:

Aww. Isn’t that sweet? It’s my mom’s handwriting. I had remembered she read the “Anne” series to me when I was little (along with “To Kill a Mockingbird”), but I didn’t realize I was so young! Not only did we read the books but Mom and I watched like crazy all the PBS broadcasts of the “Anne” movies. (Oh, Megan Follows!)

I found the official website with trailers (that made me cry!), but tonight I stumbled upon a whole YouTube channel devoted to the movies. You can watch the series on there! I decided to embed below my favorite scene from the second movie, so if you have ten minutes, I highly recommend watching some Anne and Gilbert drama.

On a scale of 1 to Kate, this post checks in at a solid Extremely Cheesy.

Oh, JD, that Cheesy post made me cry especially when the YouTube clip was over. Such a low level of cheesyness-appreciation from you… Thank you, Kate, for that sweet memory.

Thank you, Kate! I got excited when I saw the title of today’s posting.
