2009 Holiday Gift Guide: Gal Pals

December 1, 2009

As for the girl friends in our lives, I spend most of this blog talking about different things ladies would love. This really isn’t a post that is unlike anything else I’ve done, but I hope these ideas will still be helpful.

I love giving tea towels and napkins as gifts. They are practical, pretty and “green.” Some of my favorites are from Elizabeth Bentz, Kainkain, and Chakra Pennywhistle.

You can’t go wrong with an inexpensive Golden Filigree Flower Necklace or a Fabric Paisley Clutch both from Ruche.

Jessica was the one who introduced me to Brookish Etsy shop, and it is a perfect place to find gifts for the book-lover-friends. (Do you get the references??)

For the gal pal shopper, grocery bags are great gifts. This “Juliette Market Tote” byEmilie Sloan is great because it stands on it’s own and can hold a variety of items.

If you’re like me, you get together regularly with your gal pals around a bottle (or three) of wine. I love how affordable all the wine accessories are from Crate and Barrel (stemless glass, carafe, and pitcher).

Books! For the artsy friend, why not give her the Lotta Jansdotter “Printing Studio book” that comes with all the tools she needs to start printing her own artwork, including stencils, blades and full instructions. Lotta is definitely a printmaking expert and great teacher. Craft Inc. by Meg Mateo Ilasco is a how-to guide to get your craft up and running. (I’ll be reading mine again this Christmas, I’m sure!) Also, last month I finished a great read for our generation of ladies who want to do more but are just, kind of, stuck. Kevin DeYoung’s book, “Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God’s Will OR How to Make a Decision Without Dreams, Visions, Fleeces, Impressens, Open Doors, Random Bible Verses, Casting Lots, Liver Shivers, Writing in the Sky, Etc.” has a long title but a refreshing message.

I love when friends pick out art that reminds them of me. An inexpensive print is a great gift. These below are from Beau Ideal, Made By Anna, and Aliette.

It is Christmas, in fact! Ornaments are lovely gifts as well. I adore these felted ones from Lupin, one of my favorite felt extraordinaires!

Finally, how about a few random finds for your quirky girl buddy? Banana salt and pepper shakers by Michiko Shimada, a handpainted nativity set by Goose Grease, and a Plus Minus Pin Set by Etcetera Media.

I still need to get one of those P&P mugs from Brookish! They are so great! I love the felt ornaments- they are gorgeous!
