Scarf Roundup

January 12, 2010

Oops! I’m here! I had a particularly busy day yesterday, including an eye appointment long overdue, and if it’s at all possible, I just forgot to post on Schmate over the weekend. I was having too nice of a weekend: flurries! Fido! quality time with JD! It was a great.

What I also loved so much about this weekend was how chilly it was, the snow that remained on the ground, and the general “wintry” feeling. I love the winter. I’m quite the warm-blooded gal, and getting through a day without non-exercised-induced perspiration is a good day.

So when it was particularly chilly last week (ie: in the single digits), JD turned to me and said, “I need a scarf.”

“Do you want me to knit you one or do you need a ‘real’ one, like from JoS. A. Bank?” I asked.

“I need a real one.”

I had knitted him one when we first started dating. At that time, my knitting was so-so, at best, and I chose a color and style that was fuzzy and feminine. He had sweetly accepted it as a gift, but I did not see him wearing it that much post-gift exchange. Looking back, I agree with his choice! So, I went in search of some cool, manly scarves, one that I knew my cute hubby would like. Here’s what I found (including several sales):

I went right to JoS. A. Bank. One in particular I like is on-sale ($52) and cashmere… so nice!

I was kind of surprised but J.Crew only had a few men’s scarves. This mini-check wool scarf (on sale for $19.99) is really nice.

I really like the manly plaid of this one from Gap (on sale for $14.99). Apparently, January is when you buy scarves!

How about this beauty from Brooks Brothers?

JUST KIDDING. That one is kind of … horrific. Sorry, Brooks Brothers… just because that scarf costs $174 does not mean it looks classy.

Did you know Zappos has scarves? Me neither. I love this red one from Fossil (and gives this round-up a little color!). $45

And, you can’t go wrong with Target…. this particular one looks like JD should be chopping wood with an ax in the snow!

… and this one, JD could be in Jared Leto’s brother in the ’90s TV show My So-Called Life.

Ok, so I went off course a little with picking out “masculine” scarves, but this is what is available in January, non-Etsy, and at reasonable prices. Which should JD get?
