Sunglasses Holder Replacements

June 29, 2010

In a sad moment of Memorial Day forgetfulness, I lost my favorite sunglasses case, the one I had made just over a year ago.

R.I.P., sunglasses holder. I hope someone is currently using you as much as I did.

I was quite devastated when I realized it, but I also knew I could go home and make more. So I did and here they are! What do you think?

I’d love to sell them, perhaps, or give them as gifts, but they took about 4-5 hours each to make. I wish I could speed that up. But, overall, I loved doing this project, and I may do more. Any requests?

Hi Buddy, You might save some time by doing some of the embroidery edges on your machine. I know it’s not as personal, but it does cut the overhead labor costs. They are really great and worth sharing.

LOVE it! I want to make one myself – Suggy is sharing some of her extensive sewing know-how with me, and I sure could use a case for my poor, scratched-up sunglasses! Here is my question: did you use wool felt, or plain old craft-store cheap-o felt? I have some of the latter, but I don’t want it fall apart on me. Anxiously awaiting your advice! :)

I used craft store felt, but I doubled it up. If you leave the outer layer a smidge longer than the inside layer, you can hide the doubling up. I actually used something stronger for the first pink case and it held up great! But, these two I used the craft store felt and doubled it. Hopefully it’ll hold out, but I’ll let you know if it doesn’t!

These are fantastic! I’m going to make my own, too. Thanks lady!
