Friday Feast: Bacon-wrapped Cinnamon Rolls

It’s Halloween this weekend. I’m not a huge fan of the holiday, but I do enjoy the fall and all things pumpkin. But, as for the “scary” aspect… not so much.

I did do a “spooky” thing this week. It’s really not spooky in the conventional way… it’ll mostly just give your heart a scare. This Friday Feast tops the charts on the cholesterol scale…. bacon-wrapped cinnamon rolls. Whoa dang… a once in a lifetime meal, for sure.

Tuesday was JD’s birthday, and I had been looking everywhere for a yummy recipe to make that day. I stumbled upon this recipe from Framed, and I knew immediately that it was the prize-winning birthday recipe.

A couple of problems I ran into… First of all, your typical cinnamon roll tin can will contain the ones you just plop on a sheet pan. No rolling required. I forgot that the bacon had to be woven in with the rolling, so I had to cut a spiral into the ones I bought to make it work.

Secondly, cook that bacon! I had put it in the oven for about 7 minutes at 350, but it still probably needed another 5. Because the bacon wasn’t completely “done” on some of the pastries, I ended up keeping the cinnamon rolls in the oven longer than I wanted, and the bottoms burned. Boo.

The ones that did come out ok were very yummy, although I felt guilty eating my one… so much fat! so much cholesterol! JD of course thought it was awesome, so at least I succeeded in that arena.

Regardless, I’m really glad I made it, and I’m so glad to share it with you!
