Printmaking, baby.

February 21, 2011

I’m so fortunate to have a great local art school nearby that offers weekend classes for adults in the community. I took two semesters of Printmaking classes a few years ago, and I’m finally taking another class — a silk screen workshop — this Saturday. (It’s on my Thirty Before 30 list!) I’d love to take another Printmaking class this summer, but just in case I can’t, I wanted to squeeze in this workshop now.

Currently, I’ve been working with small linoleum block squares to create things, like my Christmas cards. Below is a video of the process and how it works on a much larger scale. Pretty cool, eh?

But, for the printmaking class this weekend, I’ll be doing silkscreening, like this vid.

I’m super excited about it, even though it’s just one afternoon, and I’m hoping to learn ways to do this at home now that I have my own light box (thanks, Mom!). What images should I make?
