Maps Out and About

April 13, 2011

I love maps. I’m sure I’ve talked about this before… but I do! Yes, I am sad that atlases and such are not as popular now as Google Maps, but I even love the online versions. I am a dork: I like exploring and trying to get my bearings within the roads and landmarks of a map.

So, I especially appreciate maps as art… or at least art inspired by maps and geography. Here are a few I’ve found recently that I really like.

London Type Map by Bold & Noble

“I love Illinois” by Capow

Lena Corwin has a new book out featuring her hand-drawn maps. I especially love this one of Nashville.

Rome… in little dashes! By Studio KMO/Karen O’Leary

Loving maps is fine. It’s when life can’t be lived until someone gets their map labeled properly because oh my gosh what will we do without a properly-labeled map and can you please stop talking while I orient myself on this highlighted map no seriously I have to fix my map that I have a problem.
