Flip Burger: Best Burger Ever?

June 14, 2011

JD and I, along with our friends Will and Libby, travelled down to Clanton, Alabama, for a wedding this weekend. We spent one night in the fancy Best Western, and enjoyed all Clanton had to offer, including peaches and yummy peach ice cream. Our friends’ wedding was beautiful, and I was so glad we could all share in the excitement of the night.

Yes, it was a great wedding. But, perhaps the highlight of the trip was our stop at Flip Burger while driving through Birmingham on our way home. If you’re even a casual fan of the TV shop “Top Chef,” you’d know the name Richard Blais. Flip Burger is his awesome burger and liquid nitrogen (!!) milkshake restaurant. There are two in Atlanta and one in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Wow, it was quite a delicious experience.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

My nutella and burnt marshmallow

Fried pickles and french fries

Fried okra and onion rings, each with amazing dipping sauces

My burger: the original, grass-fed burger

Will's burger: Pimento cheeseburger

Libby's turkey burger

JD's burger: Butcher's Cut with blue cheese and caramelized onion

It was incredible. The milkshake tasted like you were sitting around a campfire, the burgers were ridiculous, and all the batter on the fried food was light and tasty. What a fun place with a clean, bright atmosphere. I would definitely recommend stopping in the next time you are in Birmingham. Wowsah.

    1. Those onion rings were *vodka*-battered and served with a *beer*-mustard sauce.

    2. I am a fried okra aficionado, and that was by far the best fried okra I’ve ever had.

    3. I had a Krispy Kreme milkshake. Word to everyone’s mothers.

I LOVE Flip Burger and send everyone visiting Atlanta there. This post makes me miss it.
